This St. Paul kitchen had remained untouched since the 1970s and was in desperate need of a complete transformation. The outdated linoleum floors, mint-green walls, and heavy cabinets made the space feel tired and outdated. A dingy dropped ceiling and an unattractive brass ceiling fan only made things worse. The layout was equally problematic with wasted space under the backyard facing window and a refrigerator awkwardly positioned at the top of the basement stairs.
The renovation completely reimagined the space. A wider, shorter window was installed, creating an improved view of the backyard while making room for new cabinets and a repositioned sink below. On the side facing wall, a single window was replaced with two smaller ones that flank the new range and hood, providing an intentional focal point from the enlarged doorway to the adjacent dining room.
Fully custom cabinets with Shaker style inset doors maximize storage and add timeless charm to this small yet functional kitchen. Gray quartz countertops were selected for their durability and complement the pale pewter cabinetry. New oak hardwood floors were installed in the kitchen and entry to create a seamless transition to the rest of the home. Bright nickel hardware, faucets, and lighting fixtures add a polished touch of modern sophistication to this now bright and welcoming kitchen.
